Abstract

The insurance industry is an important part of the basically market-based world economy. Financial risk precautions taken by market partners through insurance companies secure economic property and activity, simultaneously stabilizing economic circulation systems. Insurance efficiency is particularly called for in connection with deep changes in the economy and society along with growing risks. This is presently the case. It is the purpose of the present article to investigate the role and the competitiveness of the European insurance companies in the framework of world-wide competition.
