Evaluation of Naturalyte Spinosad Against Pod Borer Complex in Early Pigeonpea

Abstract

Studies were conducted to evaluate newer molecule, Spinosad (Tracer) 45% SC along with other standard insecticides against pigeonpea pod borers during 2002 and 2003 Kharif seasons at the Crop Research Centre of Govind Ballab Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Lower numbers of Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner), Maruca vitrata (Geyer) and Melanagromyza obtusa (Malloch) were recorded in spinosad 90g, spinosad 73g, spinosad 56g and spinosad 45g a.i./ha, compared to other standard insecticides and untreated control. Lower pod damage was observed in spinosad 90g, spinosad 73g, spinosad 56g and spinosad 45g, treatments as against untreated control over two years. Similarly, greater grain yields were also recorded by spinosad 90g (1741 kg/ha), spinosad 73g (1463 kg/ha), spinosad 45g (1218 kg/ha) and spinosad 56g (1213 kg/ha), as compared to control (768 kg/ha).
