Abstract

This paper describes the most recently developed method of transportation in the advance sector of an army. The organization and execution of this work in the American Army was almost entirely in charge of engineers from civil life, many of whom were members of the Society. The object of this paper is to describe their activities and to present to the Profession one feature of the many engineering works that were executed so successfully by the Americans in France.
