Abstract
Seven insecticides viz., ethiprole 10 SC, clothianidin 50 WDG, cartap hydrochloride 50 SP, phosphamidon 40 SL, triazophos 40 EC, diazinon 20 EC and α-cypermethrin 10 EC were evaluated in the field against the rice gall midge, Orseolia oryzae at 50, 25, 500, 400, 400, 200 and 25 g a.i./ha, respectively. The results revealed that the % silver shoot incidence recorded at 15 days after spraying was the lowest in cartap hydrochloride treated plots with the highest reduction of 74.1–78.7% silver shoot, followed by phosphamidon (2.1–3.7%) with 61.0–80.0% reduction over control. The newer molecules clothianidin and ethiprole at tested dose did not control gall midge.
