Abstract
In this report, we primarily investigate what are the strengths of aspect-oriented programming in implementing design patterns. Furthermore, we propose a higher-level specification layer by employing monitoringoriented programming (MOP). Since we develop a generic Java framework for design pattern specification, we use AspectJ and JavaMOP . In this report, we implement the Observer design pattern, for the sake of demonstrating the usefulness of those tools. Furthermore, we show a case study of using our generic framework.
