[Controlled population increase and continuing food problems, illustrated by the example of the People's Republic of China].

The current situation with regard to population and the available food supply in China is considered. The social and demographic characteristics of the population are described, population density and distribution are summarized, and current population policies are outlined. Information is also included on the distribution of the minority ethnic groups.
