Abstract
BHC, carbaryl, carbophenothion, DDT, dimethoate, endrin, endosulfan, malathion, malathion + DDT and phosphamidon were tested as high-volume sprays in a field experiment. The treatments were slow but mortality stabilized 7 days after spraying. A promising dosage of each of the 10 insecticides was tested in a second experiment. In both the experiments, all the insecticidal treatments resulted in significant reduction in the pest population as compared with simple water spray and untreated control. Considering the over-all effectiveness of different treatments at varying intervals after spraying, endosulfan, dimethoate, phosphamidon, malathion (0.04 per cent each) and malathion + DDT (0.03 + 0.1 per cent) consistently registered very high reduction in population.
