Abstract
Polyacrylic acid is widely used as an antiscalant-dispersant in formulations developed to inhibit the corrosion and scaling of metal surfaces. Its effectiveness is very dependent on the pH of the system. The present study is therefore concerned with elucidating the effect of pH on polyacrylic acid solutions both in terms of the structure of the acid in solution and its efficiency as an antiscalant.
