Abstract
Efficacy of three synthetic insecticides and six neem products was evaluated in fields for the control of cashew leaf folder, Sylepta aurantiacalis Fisch. (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera) on seven years old cv. VRI-2 trees at Regional Research Station, Vridhachalam during 2001. Treatment of monocrotophos 36 WSC (1.5 ml/1) was most effective in controlling the leaf folder and recorded 94.6% larval reduction over control in 10 days after spraying. Chlorpyriphos 20EC (2.5 ml/l) and triazophos 40EC (1.25 ml/l) were also superior to control in reducing larval population by 94.5 to 97.10 per cent. Among the neem formulations, Achook (3 ml/1), Parry Aza (3 ml/1), Neemgold (3 ml/l) and TNAU neem oil (30 ml/1) were found next in the order of efficacy. The sprays of other general neem products viz., neem oil 30 ml/1 and NSKE 5% were effective to a limited extent against the leaf folder.
