Abstract

The present study was carried out to find out the influence of growth stages and gender on serum constituents of Rhode Island Red (RIR) birds. Blood serum samples were analysed by AIMIL photochem calorimeter for uric acid, urea, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen was computed. A highly significant difference was observed between sexes during brooder stage for uric acid, layer stage for urea, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. A significant difference was observed between sexes during brooder stage for creatinine. No significant difference was observed between sexes during grower and layer stage for uric acid, brooder and grower stage for urea and blood urea nitrogen, grower stage for creatinine. Between growth stages, a highly significant difference was observed in uric acid, urea, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. Between sexes, no significant difference was observed in uric acid and creatinine, a significant difference in urea and blood urea nitrogen. Between growth stage and gender interactions, no significant difference was observed in uric acid, a highly significant difference in urea, blood urea nitrogen and creatinine.
