Lake Illawarra - Numerical Modelling of Entrance Processes

Abstract

As part of investigations for entrance improvement works to Lake Illawarra, NSW, a range of numerical model studies have been undertaken recently. These studies have investigated hydrodynamic processes in the lake and its mobile, sandy entrance. A range of hydraulically more efficient entrances have been examined to quantify potential changes in tidal prism, and hence water quality, and changes in tide and flood levels. This paper discusses some of those aspects.
