Abstract

A study on the residues of endosulfan in grain pods, grain and pod cover or rajmah (Phaseolus vulgaris. L.) revealed that in green pods β-endosulfan persisted for longer time than α-endosulfan at the doses of 350 and 700 g ai ha−1 but endosulfan sulphate was not detected at any stage of the crop growth. Waiting periods of 2.2 and 4 d are suggested for safe consumption of green pods for the two doses of application of the insecticide, respectively. Grain and pod cover samples at harvest contained endosulfan residues below the maximum residue limit (MRL).
