Large-scale dairy and poultry production in Russia: efficiency and external environment.

Abstract

This chapter analyses the production efficiency and the reasons behind the different development pace of dairy and poultry production in Russia. It also describes the reasons and consequences of growth in these two industries and the transition to addressing the environmental problems of these leading agricultural sectors. This chapter evaluates the development prospects for Russian dairy and poultry production in the global market based on rates of production concentration and intensification, the adoption of innovative production technologies, marketing and management and government support of the agrarian sector.
