Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the health condition and health education demand among the rural residents in Fangshan district of Beijing, and to provide referral basis to related department for establishing strategy of health education. [Methods] A questionnaire survey was conducted among 498 rural residents in 6 natural villages of 3 towns of Fangshan district in Beijing by randomized cluster sampling. [Results] The total prevalence rate of chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, cardiac disease, apoplexy and chronic bronchitis or asthma in Fangshan district was 34.7% and the top three dis- eases were hypertension, cardiac disease and chronic bronchitis or asthma. The residents had a better understanding of the knowledge about infectious diseases prevention than chronic diseases. Compared with the residents from mountainous and halfmountainous area, the residents from plain had a better health condition and health knowledge (P﹤0.05). The rural residents expected to gain health knowledge by television, broadcast and health classes. [Conclusion] Chronic diseases were the main problems for the health of residents in fangshan. We should strengthen the health education for the chronic diseases, pay attention to residents in mountainous or half-mountainous areas, and carry out the health education for residents in different areas according to their demands.
