Effect of Commercial Probiotic Preparations on Performance of Broilers

An experiment involving300 healthy day old broiler chicks was conducted to study the effectof five commercially available probiotics on growth performance of the chicks. Control diet was supplemented with these probiotics in the ration of chicks, and were randomly assigned to six groups each containing 50 chicks for a period of six weeks. No significant difference was observed in feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and nitrogen retention of the birds. It was concluded that different probiotic combinations could not show beneficial effect in respect of growth performance under present investigation.
