Abstract

The author firstly explains the synchronous and asynchronous of vehicles as well as the possibilities of automatic regulation of movements and spacing. He goes on to describe, using railway examples, spacing system incorporating train spacing, shows the hierarchical structure with special emphasis on the minimum amount of train-track communications, made possible by the optimum distribution of safety and control functions between train and track.
