Abstract

In recent years,M.genitalium has been considered to be an important sexully transmitted pathogen. It has been implicated as a cause of non-gonococcal urethritis in men with or without symptoms. In women,M.genitalium infection is associated with cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. M.genitalium infection can also enhance the acquisition and transmission of HIV infection. DNA amplification test has been widely used for the detection of M.genitalium. Azithromycin and doxycycline are recommended for the treatment of M.genitalium infection.
