Abstract

From the Publisher: The BeOs is fundamentally a new operating system, yet it contains a lot of UNIX -like features, and aims to be largely POSIX compliant. This books explores the BeOS from a POSIX programmer's vantage point, providing the programmer with a comprehensive guide to getting UNIX applications to run on this new platform. Not only does the book simply provide a catalog of tools and features available on the BeOS, it is a fun system for programmers to use and shows how a single user system can provide multiple processors in one box.
