Abstract

An endeavour is made to report finger and palmar dermatoglyphic variation in a primitive tribal population viz., the Khond of Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh. It is evident that qualitative rather than quantitative characters depict greater variation along with statistically significant bimanual and sex differences. The Khonds show closest with neighbouring tribes like the Bagatha and Konda Dora in most of the dermatoglyphic characters studied.
