Pavement smoothness issues tackled by task force

This article presents a new Pavement Smoothness Task Force, which is dedicated to promoting consistent specifications for pavement smoothness. Issues covered are as follows: the need for consistent specifications; pavement designs supporting constructability and smoothness goals; the need to define localized roughness; the needs for asphalt and concrete pavement smoothness to be equitably compared; and the role of technology in pavement smoothness.
