Periodontal disease with risk of cardiovascular complications: A Microbiological study

Periodontal diseases are pathological processes that affect the periodontal tissues; usually refer as gingivitis and periodontitis. Periodontitis is defined as an inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the tooth caused by specific microorganisms, resulting in progressive destruction of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession, or both , while gingivitis is inflammation of the gingiva.
