Abstract
Circuit breaker monitoring anddiagnosis canaid inproviding useful information onthecondition ofthe circuit breaker, thusreducing costs bypostponing unnecessary maintenance, withconfidence that breakers areoperating within normal wearlimits. One ofthemethods usedforcircuit breaker diagnosis is knownas themodel-based diagnosis. Forsuch diagnosis tobeaccurate, a modelthatimitates the performance ofa realcircuit breaker needstobe developed. Thepaper presents acircuit breaker model including boththemechanical andtheelectrical components. The model is developed in Matlab/Simulink environment.
