SUMMARY This study examined the resource productivity of farmers under fadamas cropping system in Umuahia North Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia State. Farming land has become a critical problem due to increased demand for land by other users. This has given rise to the use of fadama land available in the area. Using profitability and resource use efficiency measures, it was identified that fadama farming is profitable and all the factors employed were inefficiently utilized. This suggests that higher profits and yields could be attained by efficient allocation of the employed resources which is vital to the sustainability of agriculture in Nigeria.
