Abstract

Studies were carried out on the influence of the qu antities of cowpea seeds, Vigna unguiculata (L) Walp. and parent cowpe a weevil,Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab.) on oviposion and progeny developme nt of the weevils under ambient laboratory conditions. It was observed that with the increased in the quantity of cowpea seeds or adult female, C.maculatus per qu antum of cowpea seeds, there was a corresponding significant (p = 0.05) decrease d in the number of eggs laid per female per cowpea seed as well as with the adult C. maculatus emergence per cowpea seed. The implications of these results are discuss ed.
