Abstract
The role of steric factor ofthe etchant on the reactivity at line defects in single crystals ofbismuth has been studied. It is observed that in the behaviour of monocarboxylic acid containing etchants, on dilution, cause no change in kink kinetics due to an increase in the steric factor. An increase in the CH radical also causes a decrease in the steric factor lowering the steric hinderance of the reaction. 2
