Abstract

Abstract — The 2G/3G are not sufficient to fulfill the demands of wireless network like high data rates, high service. A new MIMO technology has been introduced to meet these demands and it implements multiple transmit and receive antennas but due to practical constraints on the number of antennas at the base station, Cooperative diversity has been introduced. Cooperative diversity is a virtual MIMO system. Cooperative diversity with STBC provides transmit diversity gain and coding gain. STBC provides higher data rates with minimal decoding complexity at the receiver. STBC is a powerful technique for improvement in error performance of wireless communication systems by using multiple transmitting antennas. This article presents performance analysis of Space Time Block Code (STBC) used in cooperative diversity system for n T transmit and n R receive antennas.
