Verification of Employability Skills Inventory using Confirmatory Factor Analysis

Abstract

This study was carried out to validate an instrument used to measure employability skills of engineering students. A total of 535 respondents were involved in this study. Ten components were included to measure the employability skills namely: critical thinking and problem solving skills, lifelong learning and information management skills, communication skills, team work skills, technology utilizing skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, ethic and moral, social skills and spirituality. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to obtain 10 factor solutions using AMOS software. The results showed that the value of Cronbach alpha is higher than 0.80. The results of the second order CFA confirm that the data was fit with the model. It is found that the instrument with 52 items based on 10 factor model can be used to measure the employability skills of engineering students.
