Abstract. This is a prospective study analyzing gender differences in the presentation of hyperprolactinemia as well as the efficacy and tolerance to cabergoline and bromocriptine. Thirty-six patients (23 women, 13 men) were recruited and divided into two groups; Group One received bromocriptine and Group Two received cabergoline for three months. The prolactin level was measured before and after treatment in both groups. Galactorrhea and infertility were more common symptoms in women; however, 100 % of men with micro or macroprolactinoma had libido disturbances. The prolactin level was higher in men than in
