Abstract
The natural fern hybrid Dryopteris ×ambroseae is reported as new to the Bulgarian flora. Single scattered plants were found in mixed populations of both parents. Confirmation of their hybrid nature was accomplished by morphological, cytological and spore analyses. The frond morphology of the hybrid individuals was intermediate between the two parents, the mitotic chromosome number was triploid (2n = 123), and the spores, varying in shape and size, were entirely abortive.
