A simulation model used to analyze the \nenergy performance of an existing building \nshould be calibrated to measured consumption \ndata from the building so the simulation output \nclosely follows the measured time series energy \nconsumption data and shows the same \ntemperature dependence. This paper has used \noptimization software to show that a simple \nsimulation program which is a coding of the \nASHRAE 'Simplified Energy Analysis \nProcedure' can be automatically calibrated to \n“measured” data. The “measured data” used in \nthis case study was simulation data to which a \nsmall amount of white noise had been added.
