Abstract

Wireless product development requires overcoming challenges in 4 dimensions of system, circuit, integration and verification. System challenges involve partitioning RF/baseband & subsystem requirements, choosing RF architecture, interpreting (Standard) specs, and performing system trade-off. Circuit challenge revolves around design and optimization of RF circuit performance to both circuit specification as well as wireless standards, and physical-level modeling of high-frequency components and interconnects and the layout of an RFIC. Integration challenge surfaces during and after IC design. The dependencies between RFIC circuit and base band can be explored at this stage. Updating the circuit design with the EM effects through parasitic extraction could be done at this stage.
