Abstract
The productivity of the well is affected by the fluid flow in the reservoir and the flow in the horizontal wellbore. This paper will investigate the productivity of selectively completed horizontal wells. The pressure drop along the horizontal wellbore was obtained based on the principle of conservation of matter and momentum theorem. Also, according to the potential of superposition and mirror image principle, the 3D steady-state pressure distributions were derived. A new productivity prediction model used to calculate the inflow performance of a horizontal selectively completed well was obtained by combining the pressure drop and 3D steady-state pressure distributions. The effect of influx into the horizontal wellbore from the reservoir and the pressure drop in the wellbore were considered in this model. Example calculations showed that horizontal well productivity is influenced by the boundary condition and the production of horizontal well increased with divergence of production rate value between the heel end and the toe end and pressure drop gradient. Prediction results obtained by the proposed model are in good agreement with test or experimental data.
