Abstract
Cetirizine is a highly efficacious and long acting second generation H1 receptor antagonist indicated for the treatment of allergic diseases. It is a racemate mixture composed of equal amounts of Sand R-enantiomers, and the R-enantioner, levocetirizine, carries the majority of the histamine H1-receptor-blocking activity. Recently, levocetirizine formulation has been introduced in India for the treatment of allergic rhinitis and urticaria. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of levocetirizine (Indian formulation) versus an international brand of levocetirizine in 12 Usharan-vol5no1 3/8/05 4:37 PM Page 149
