Abstract
A total of 127 Depth Soundings were carried out across Ado-Ekiti using the Schlumberger electrode array to generate geoelectric parameters indicative of groundwater accumulation potential. Analysis of the data using a Ranking Scheme involving the Overburden Thickness, Aquifer Resistivity and Bedrock Resistivity inferred from the first order geoelectric parameters yielded the Statistical Evaluation of the groundwater potential of the metropolis. Areas characterized by Overburden Thickness of > 30m indicating good Groundwater Potential accounted for 32.3% of the study area. 37% of the study area exhibit Optimum Weathering and Groundwater Potential with resistivity ranging from 20-100 Ω-m while 37.8% of the study area exhibit high Groundwater Potential on the account of Fractured Bedrock with resistivity < 750 Ω-m. The observed trend is supportive of large scale Groundwater Development in the study area.
