Abstract
This paper investigates the dissemination and the quality of trip information on travelers’ destination and route choice behaviors under the constraint of travel time reliability. Assuming that each link has a uniformly distributed link capacity, we can derive the computation formula of route travel time budget based on the probability distribution of link travel time. In this paper, the travelers are divided into two classes. According to the travelers’ hierarchical choice structure model in an ATIS environment, a combined trip distribution and assignment model with travel time reliability constraint is formulated as a variational inequality problem. Furthermore, a heuristic solution algorithm is introduced to solve the proposed model. In the end, we use a small road network to validate the model and conduct some sensitive analyses to study the impacts of ATIS market penetration, the road network reliability requirement, and other factors on the network traffic flow patterns.
