Application of mephostolan granules at 0.75 kg a.l./ha was found to be effective in checking the stem borer both at the vegetative and panicle bearing stage. The commence- ment of the insecticidal application either at 15th or 20th day after transplanting and re- peated three times at 20 days interval was found to give better check of the stem borer.
