Multiple sclerosis and the family physician.

Multiple sclerosis is difficult to diagnose since it develops over a period of time and the symptoms and signs are scattered throughout the central nervous system. Because there is no specific treatment, the problems of management are especially challenging.Case histories are presented to support the concept that multiple sclerosis is a family and community concern. Family physicians are urged to maintain a supportive role and an interested attitude towards patients with multiple sclerosis. These patients and their families have urgent and continuing needs for their doctors' skills.
