AKTUALISASI DIRI KELOMPOK PENGGEMAR (FANDOM) MANGA

Manga has became a reference of comic book world. Manga fans do not just take reading activity, but also collect it up and expand their activities to show their addictive of manga, even joining manga fans community. The method of this study is mix method between quantitative and qualitative. This study attempted to reveal the meaning behind manga fans’s activities which become a process of self actualization. This study found that from reading manga and also the development of its attributes, such as anime, live action, game, soundtrack and action figures can be developed into a process of self-actualization. The fans do the process of self actualization in various ways, such as drawing manga or its character, cosplay, singing the soundtrack of anime, cosplay photography, making cosplay costumes, creating a subtitle for manga online, being a dubber for anime online and even make a parody of the anime as well anime soundtrack. From the various activities of self actualization that manga fans do, it can be broadly divided into two groups of fandom behaviour, namely altruist manga fandom and opportunist manga fandom. Altruist manga fandom is manga fans who conducting more of their self-actualization in cyberspace. The fans who include of altruist manga fandom do self aztualization to show that they are true fans. While the definition of opportunist manga fandom is the fans who carry their activities out in the real world and developing it into cyberspace and the main purpose of their self-actualization is as a venue for self-commercialization.
