Abstract

In this paper, the authors propose a method of analyzing permeance distribution of rotating machines. The proposed method enables us to consider non-linear characteristics of iron cores in regard to magnetic saturation. Representing the non-linear characteristics, the relation between flux density and magnetomotive force is approximated by power series. Permeance variations caused by magnetic saturation are calculated by the harmonic balance method. The analytical results show the ability of the method in analyzing saturatable higher harmonic characteristics of the rotating machines qualitatively.
