The effect of maize and cowpea intercropping on weed control condition.

Abstract

In order to determine the effects of maize (Zea mays L.) and cowpea (Vignasinensis) intercropping on weed controls an experiment was conducted at West Azerbaijan Agriculture Research Center during 2008. The experiment was arranged in factorial design in randomized complete block design with three replications. Weed suppressing effects in intercropping combinations were higher than cowpea sole crop and less or equal to maize sole crop. The MC20 and MC50 were better treatment combinations in this respect.
