Abstract
In the laboratory, we have found three main components of citronella oil, citronellal, citronellol, and geraniol. Citronellal enrichment is generally obtained by fractionation unit. Those three components are usually obtained in azeotropic system. In the preliminary study, we have found that citronellal in the distillate with concentration of more than 90% was mixed with other components, mainly citronellol and geraniol. Gas chromatography was used for analysis of citronellal component. In this study, we have predicted the azeotropic system in fractionation unit for citronellal enrichment as an illustration using ChemCAD process simulator. The result of citronellal enrichment simulation will be discussed in this paper.
