Abstract
This report is concerned principally with the terminal facilities required for the discharge of LNG, its storage and final distribution of natural gas. It starts with the physical and chemical properties of LNG followed by a treatment of the various methods of the liquefaction process and the design and operation of the present LNG liquefaction plants. Storage systems and tanks, and the materials used are discussed. Revaporization and sendout systems, distribution and safety and fire fighting systems are covered in some detail along with the regulatory agencies and the type of control they exert over the safety of LNG plants. Finally, the economics involved, location and alternatives are discussed.
