Abstract

Emission of gamma radiation resulting from inverse Compton scattering of X-ray photons of Cyg X-3 by radio electrons during the 1972 September 2 radio burst is calculated; the peak flux of gamma-rays of energy greater than 100 MeV near the Earth is calculated to be about 10–2 photon/(cm2 s). It is suggested that the recently observed gamma-ray flux from Cyg X-3 is a result of a similar scattering process during a lesser active period.
