Abstract
The optical layout of a novel soft x-ray beamline at the Daresbury Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) is presented, together with the mechanical design of a precision-built soft x ray crystal monochromator. The mechanical and optical performance of the system are discussed, supported by data on the output flux and resolution of the monochromator. The flexibility of this optical arrangement for different kinds of experiments is examined.
