Abstract
The arch has found multiple applications over the centuries in the construction of buildings and bridges. In modern times the arch bridge has again become economically competitive for bridge applications due to the development of new construction methods and material technologies. This paper begins with a brief history of the arch, followed by a description of various concrete arch bridges, and the theory of arch design.
