Abstract In this study, meander type of counter electrode discharge cell for PDP was designed to achieve long‐gap discharge at low firing voltage and moderate conductance for evacuation and sealing. In order to test a feasibility of the geometry for counter electrode discharge cells, macro discharge cells were prepared. The discharge behavior was observed and discharge voltages of the panels were measured and compared with the cells with rectangular type counter electrode discharge cells. In addition, the discharge behavior in real cells were observed using ICCD camera.
