Abstract
There are a lot of fieldbus protocol standards in industry field, all of which refer to ISO OSI reference model. Therefore, they have similar system architectures. Physical and data link layers are different between fieldbuses, but for meeting the communication requirements of industrial control network, all fieldbus communication protocols provide same communication models, and application layer protocols provide same or similar functions and services though using different protocol mechanisms. Therefore, it is possible to abstract a basic protocol model based on different fieldbus communication protocols, which establishes basis for the design of new or uniform fieldbus protocols, and provides framework for the development and certification of filebus protocol stacks
