Abstract
One approach using modal analysis and harmonic response to analyze the characteristics of machine tools is proposed in this paper. Dynamic theory and modeling method of MDOF system are introduced. Modal experiment is carried out to obtain modal frequency, damping and shape. Based on these parameters, a virtual dynamic model is established to match the actual one. Meanwhile, simulation and modal analysis have been done using FEA to obtain the accurate dynamic characteristics. Moreover, studies of harmonic response are carried out to get the explicit characteristics of each part in the model. Additionally, there are some suggestions regarding to improvement in the future.
