An Analysis of Research in English Learner Autonomy of College Students

This empirical study analyzes the overall state of learner autonomy of the 179 non-English major college students. The findings show as follows: First, on the whole, learner autonomy on the part of non-English major college students is far from being satisfactory: second, despite that learner autonomy of male students is slightly greater than female students, the performance of male students in CET-4 (College English Test Band 4) is a bit worse than that of female students. In the end, the paper gives some suggestions on how to improve learner autonomy of college students in learning English.
