Abstract

In this paper the succession of partial discharges at DC voltage is discussed. For the measurements presented here, the Townsend-like discharge mechanism was found to be dominant. Using a simpleRCcircuit, the discharge behaviour can be described. Several discharge parameters, such as the average time lag or the voltage drop of a discharge, can be evaluated. The discharge magnitude can also be predicted.
